After Care Instructions

• Avoid rubbing or massaging the injected area for at least 4 hrs after treatment. 
• Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hrs after treatment.
• Avoid wearing tight fitting headgear that covers your forehead
• Avoid lying on your front, try to keep upright for 4 hrs after treatment. 

Aftercare dermal filler

• Avoid any heat inducing activities for 24 hrs such as strenuous exercise, spas, saunas or extremely hot showers
• Avoid rubbing, facials, massages or skin resurfacing until the area has fully healed. 
• Avoid make up for 6 hrs but you can continue your usual skincare regime that evening. 
• You may use a cold compress if required to relieve discomfort but avoid extreme cold. 
• Lips – avoid hot drinks that may burn until you have full feeling back as the numbing cream will reduce sensation.  
• Feel free to massage lips if lumpy for the next day. 
• Use arnica cream to ease bruising. 
• If you are prone to cold sores we highly encourage anti-viral tablets which you can buy over the counter at the chemist. 

When to seek urgent review In the event of anaphalaxis – call 000,  in the rare event of allergy or infection – If you get a painful or itchy bump near an injection site,  please contact us for a review. Necrosis occurs when oxygen enriched blood is obstructed and causes tissue to break down. Although extremely rare, it needs immediate attention to avoid scarring. This usually presents straight away and can be treated by dissolving the filler in clinic. It’s caused by the filler disrupting the blood supply causing discoloration and pain usually within the first few hrs after treatment. If this is a concern after you have left the clinic,  you must return, or if after hours, attend an emergency department for review and potential dissolving of the filler. DIR (delayed inflammatory reactions). Months or years after treatment. Can occur secondary to virus or post vaccination. You may experience fevers, localised inflammation and/ or redness.
